As part of the final MAGNET meeting held in Patras, a conference was organized under the theme: “Upgrading University Pedagogy: International Trends and the Networking of Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTL).” The event took place on Friday, October 31, 2025, in a hall of the Library and Information Center of the University of Patras. Approximately 80 people attended in person, while 15 joined online. The conference began with welcome remarks by the Vice-Rector of the University of Patras, Professor Ioannis Venetis, and the Vice-Rector of Democritus University of Thrace, Professor Marirena Grigoriou. In addition to highlighting the significance of the MAGNET project and the establishment of the Balkan Network for University Pedagogy (BALKANETUP), both Vice-Rectors emphasized the importance of networking. In their remarks, they noted that networking at their respective universities extends beyond research projects to include participation in European University alliances—EUNICOAST for the University of Patras and EMERGE for the Democritus University of Thrace. The coordinator of MAGNET and BALKANETUP, Professor Katerina Kedraka, in her presentation, discussed the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and the importance of collaboration among the MAGNET project partners. She particularly stressed the significance of continuing the BALKANETUP network, stating that the sustained partnership and the ongoing operation of BALKANETUP are the two key pillars for the sustainability of MAGNET’s outcomes. Anna Mavroudi, Associate Professor in the Department of Education at the University of Oslo, gave an in-depth presentation on the innovative induction program for new faculty members developed by the Center for Teaching and Learning, while also addressing key theoretical aspects of SoTL. George Asimakopoulos, PhD, University of Patras, presented a support program designed to assist first-year students with their studies. The program is available in both Greek and English. Following the presentation, participants posed questions and engaged in a discussion.
